Blogging
Blogs can be a great way to let students connect and share information. It is a way for students to communicate their understanding of of a topic. Blogs are also great ways to communicate and share information with parents. I have used blogs with fifth and second grade classes. There are several different types of blogs.
Wallwisher
Wallwisher is a website that allows you to create "sticky walls" that can be embeded into your website. When you create the wall you give students a question to respond to. Then, students post sticky notes onto the wall with their responses. Students can even add images and links to their post! Below is an example of a Wallwisher blog from my fifth grade class:
Classroom Website Blogging
Blogs can be a part of your classroom website! Weebly is a free online website designing tool that is easy to use. Weebly allows you to put a custom blog on your website. Click on the following link to view my second grade writing blog: 2nd Grade Writing Blog
Personal Blogging
Creating a stand alone blog can be a very useful tool for classrooms. The only problem is that most school servers probably block these sites. Blogger.com is a free website that allows you to create and customize your own blog. Click on the following link to view my personal blog: Smocus Smocus
